We talked recently with Mathew Hauber from EV West and he gave us an update to the Pike’s Peak Race results. This is what he had to say:
“We are finally finished with the Pikes Peak Hill Climb so I feel like I can breath again. Everything went very well, we received 4th place @ 11:58 which beat a couple of million dollar founded teams. We are running 2 Warp 11″ motors, a PowerGlide 2 speed transmission and a Shiva Controller and 80 CALB 180′s for about a nominal 265V. The biggest quote that everyone keeps using is “It just Surges!”. The car just pulls and pulls! It absolutely is a blast to drive and it handles amazingly well because every battery in the car is floor level.
We are corner balanced to within 5 lbs and the weight distribution is an amazing 47% front to 53% rear! We truly did have such a good experience with the Shiva, the motors really out did themselves as well! The experience on the hill was unlike nothing I have ever been through, everyone getting up at 3am and herding to an area and waiting for the sun to peak out over the hill to start practicing every morning. Even on race day preparation starts at like 4am and then went on till 7pm then we drove all the way back afterwards.”
